Donate VolunteerAndover Fibromyalgia & M.E Chatterbook Group (AFMCG) was established in May 2012. A non profit organisation to bring the Andover Community who live with Fibromyalgia & M.E together to support each other.
Fibromyalgia (FM or FMS) is a chronic widespread pain syndrome that is a very debilitating often disabling conditon. People living with Fibromyalgia experience a heightened & painful response to pressure. Symptoms include debilitating fatigue, sleep disturbance,joint stiffness,difficulty with swallowing,bowel & bladder abnormalities,numbness & tingling, dysautonomia and cognitive dysfunction.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E) sometimes referred to as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a very debilitating often disabling condition. Symptoms of M.E include post-exertional malaise, unrefreshing sleep, widespread muscle & joint pain, sore throat, headaches, cognitive difficulties, chronic often severe mental / physical exhaustion, muscle weakness, increased sensitivity to light, sounds & smells, orthostatic intolerance, digestive disturbances, depression, and cardiac & respiratory problems.
Fibromyalgia & M.E are commonly disbelieved due to lack of medical diagnostic tests and because the symptoms are not outwardly visible to others. However, both illnesses are REAL & recent medical research suggests these conditions are neurological, as the chemical regulation is not functioning correctly.
The purpose of the group is to;
*provide information and to share experiences about living with Fibromyalgia & M.E
*provide meetings that are a safe place to discuss FMS/ME in a non-judgmental environment.
* provide members with relevant information or signpost members to organisations for advice.
* encourage members to use the AFMCG HealthUnlocked community via this website to chat to each other between meetings.
AFMCG are proactive within our community to raise awareness of both Fibromyalgia & M.E and use fundraising or grant funding to implement projects that may help our members & their families as they struggle to live with Fibro/M.E on a daily basis.
We aim to become a registered charity in the near future that will help us continue to provide a support network for Andover & surrounding areas
