Every Day Harmony was originally established in 1990 as the Northern Ireland Music Therapy Trust by the leading neurologist the (late) Dr Michael Swallow - since then we have updated our name and our branding to “Every Day Harmony Music Therapy” but our vision has remained the same “we wish to see every child, young person and adult in Northern Ireland receive the level of music therapy service that meets their needs”. Music therapy is an established psychological clinical intervention and is an allied health profession. It is delivered by our registered music therapists who are educated to Masters Level and are all HCPC registered and regulated.
Music Therapy can help people whose lives have been affected by injury, illness or disability by supporting their psychological, emotional, physical, communicative and social needs. Because Music Therapy does not depend on the ability to sing, play an instrument or even speak, it is a particularly effective clinical intervention for people who have difficulty communicating verbally. They may be affected by disability, illness or injury, or it could be a child with autism, or an adult with Dementia – all these individuals can be helped develop emotional, social and communication skills.
It is an effective intervention for individuals with
