Help for the Elderly

If you are caring for an elderly parent or other individual, or you yourself are elderly, then navigating your way through the care system, determining the benefits and services to which you are entitled and succeeding in accessing these can often be hard and frustrating and you may be missing out on help and entitlements as a result. The Community Programme can put you in touch with organisations and groups that can help you to understand and locate the available services and that can provide information and guidance on the practical help that you can take advantage of.

This includes information regarding elderly care services, claiming the correct benefits, paying for care and support, getting help with heating costs and similar; advice on staying independent including information on independent living, help at home and choosing sheltered accommodation; and guidance on healthcare rights, care after hospital and on selecting nursing and residential homes.

The Community Programme can also help you to locate day centres, befriending services and support groups in your area where you can socialise and share your experiences with others. Similarly, you can discuss specific issues on our free, confidential online forum.

If you need practical help and support or specialist advice, please act now and contact one of the organisations listed by The Community Programme.
